Police chase ends in horrific smash with wreckage of two cars scattered over Manchester road

A car ploughed into another vehicle while it was being chased by police in Ardwick.

The smash took place on Hyde Road, at the junction with Devonshire Street, near to the Stagecoach depot, just before 10.15pm last night.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said the car was being pursued by officers after it failed to stop.

The vehicle then smashed into another car which was not involved in the pursuit.

There were no reports of any serious or life-threatening injuries.

A blue BMW and silver Fiat were involved in the incident.

Police said nobody was injured in the collision. (ASP)

Hyde Road was sealed off for a short amount of time but re-opened again following a police investigation.

Debris from both of the vehicles could be seen scattered across the street, while the BMW could be seen with all of its air bags deployed.

Street railings were also damaged by the impact of the collision.

One eye witness said: "I heard a massive bang, I turned around to this this car rocking back and forth."

It is unknown if there have been any arrests at this stage.
