Police chase driver who ran through a fence panel trying to escape

Driver Andrew Dunlop ran through a fence to evade police when they pulled him over and checked his car.

He admitted driving without insurance, breaking the terms of his driving licence and criminal damage to a fence panel.

At Nottingham Magistrates' Court, he was ordered to pay £40 for repairs, a £375 fine, £85 prosecution costs and £30 government surcharge.

Emma Wakefield, prosecuting, said that Dunlop was driving a Saab car in Albert Road, Newark, when police officers began to follow it on April 22. He stopped and left the vehicle.

"They lost sight of him and he entered some residential gardens. He damaged a central fence panel. It will cost £30 to £40 to fix it," added Miss Wakefield.

The court heard that Dunlop works all over the UK and lives in Moir Road, Musselburgh, East Lothian. District Judge Tim Spruce put six points on his driving licence and told him: "This whole incident has cost you £530.

"It appears you ran away because of not having the correct documentation."
