Police chase drama as officers swoop on vehicle in Edinburgh city centre

Dramatic pictures show the moment police swooped on a vehicle after a car chase in Edinburgh.

Cops had attempted to stop the car in Edinburgh city centre just before noon.

The driver allegedly failed to pull over and cops gave chase in a high-speed pursuit.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop after crashing on Western Approach Road.

A female passenger was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries.

Officers arrested a 25-year-old man at the scene.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Officers attempted to stop a vehicle in Edinburgh city centre at around 11.53am on Thursday, 30 April, 2020. 

"The driver failed to stop and made off on various roads, eventually coming to a halt when the vehicle crashed in Western Approach Road.

"As a result a woman passenger in the car was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"A 25-year-old man has been arrested. Enquiries into the matter are currently underway."
