Police chase and manhunt in East Lothian as property van driver fails to stop for cops

Officers have impounded a van believed to belong to an Edinburgh-based property company after a police chase and manhunt - with sniffer dogs - in Musselburgh, East Lothian last night (4 December).

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.40pm on Friday 4 December, a vehicle drove away from officers on Pinkie Road in Musselburgh, after they’d signalled for it to stop. Shortly after the driver abandoned the vehicle on the High Street in the town.

“Officers are following a positive line of enquiry.”

A local source told Edinburgh Live that "there was a small car chase that led to the vehicle he was driving being abandoned on Musselburgh High Street.

"The driver fled on foot and escaped the police officers chasing him. Police and sniffer dogs were dispatched to the High Street but the driver was not caught."

A photo shows the van parked half on the pavement with the rest sticking out into the road.

The driver is believed to be a current employee of the property company.

The source also told Edinburgh Live that officers are still looking for him.
