Police CCTV appeal after man racially abused and met with 'onslaught of insults' in street

Police investigating reports of a man and woman shouting racist abuse at a man in a street have released images of two people they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

It was reported that the victim walked past two people on his way home along Nottingham Road, Hucknall, when he heard a racist remark.

He challenged the pair and was greeted with what police described as "an onslaught of insults where the offenders got right up in his face and would not let him past".

Police have been checking CCTV footage following the incident just after midnight on July 17.

Now, officers have released images of two people they'd like to speak to in connection with the investigation.

Inspector Kylie Davies said: "The racist abuse the victim has suffered was appalling and there is absolutely no place for this behaviour in our society.

“We take a zero-tolerance approach to all hate crimes and it is shocking to think that someone would think it is acceptable to speak to people in this way.

"We are working with the victim to support them following the incident and are keen to trace the people in these images.

"If you recognise them or have any information that could help, please call us on 101."

Anyone with information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 18 of July 17.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
