Police catch Glasgow driver on 500-mile round trip to Stafford to collect new car

Police have intercepted a Glasgow driver taking a 500 mile round trip to Stafford to collect a new car, flaunting the coronavirus lockdown rules.

Cumbria Roads Police took to Twitter to inform the public the driver was reported for making the non-essential trip.

Officers said that the male driver "agreed with us that it was not an essential journey" and issued him with a fixed penalty notice.

Cumbria Roads Police tweeted: This driver was on his way to Stafford from Glasgow to collect a new car. He agreed with us that it was not an essential journey . Fixed Penalty notice issued."

Glasgow Live  have reported on a number of incidents of Cumbria Roads Police catching drivers taking the trip from England to Glasgow in recent days.

On Sunday we brought you news of four men being fined after making their way back from London to Glasgow after a family gathering in the English capital.

While on Tuesday of this week we reported how they snared an uninsured driver on a 600-mile round trip from Birmingham to Glasgow for a Dior bag.
