Police catch driver on the phone 'asking what their mother needed from the shop'

A driver was caught talking on the phone after failing to notice a police car right in front of them.

Traffic officers for Greater Manchester Police first spotted the 4x4 on Bury Road, Breightmet, just before 10am this morning.

After noticed that the driver was on the phone, they followed the car, eventually bringing it to a stop on Milnthorpe Road.

Police issued the driver with a traffic offence report and shared news along with a dashcam image on their GMP Traffic Twitter page.

A spokesman wrote: "So busy talking away on their mobile phone, asking what their mother needed from the shop, they didn't notice the fully liveried traffic car right in front of them.

"Driver stopped on Milnthorpe Road Bolton by XT11.

"TOR issued."
