Police officers with search dogs have been seen around the Metrocentre as they look for a wanted man.
A police presence has been seen around the Gateshead shopping centre and in the wider Swalwell area on Thursday afternoon.
Northumbria Police has confirmed officers are looking for a man, who they have not named or released any detail about.
The force says that the man does not pose a risk to the public.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Officers are carrying out inquiries as part of an investigation to locate a man wanted for breaching bail conditions and there is no wider risk to the public."
