A late night police search took place in the skies above Ayr last night.
It followed reports of concern for an individual in the Loaning area of Alloway.
The force helicopter was seen circling the area for around an hour while officers carried out investigations.
But they have today confirmed the incident was put down as a false alarm.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A report was received raising concern for a person seen in the area of The Loaning park in Alloway shortly after 8pm.
"A thorough search of the area was carried out by officers and no trace was found of anyone causing any concern in the area.
"No further reports have been made to police and the incident is being treated as a false report with good intent."
