Police car 'significantly damaged' while responding to an emergency in Broxtowe

A police car was involved in a crash while responding to an emergency call after attempting to evade a car which crossed into its path.

Nottinghamshire Live was contacted regarding the incident in Strelley Road, Broxtowe, with reports suggesting a police car had been involved in a crash early in the morning on Sunday, May 23.

Nottinghamshire Police confirmed the incident took place at around 2am.

A force spokeswoman said: "There was a minor collision between a car being driven by a member of the public and a police car as it was on blue lights responding to an emergency call at 2am this morning.

"Evasive action was taken by officers to avoid a significant collision with the other car as it crossed into its path which resulted in the response car hitting street furniture and causing significant damage to the vehicle.

"No one was seriously injured."
