Police car roof chopped off after horror smash in Glasgow as firefighters free injured 'officer'

Emergency services have raced to a horror smash involving a police vehicle and a council care service car in Glasgow .

Police were alerted to a two-vehicle crash on Edinburgh Road in the Springboig area of the city at around 8.15pm on Monday night.

Pictures from the scene show firefighters cutting the roof off a police car involved in the crash.

One person inside – believed to be a police officer – was rushed to hospital after being removed from the vehicle.

Their condition is not yet known at this stage.

A council care services vehicle was also badly damaged as a result of the incident.

Officers remained at the scene late on Monday night as they worked to remove the wreckage from the road.
