Police car involved in collision outside Tup Tup Palace in Newcastle city centre

A police car has been involved in a collision in Newcastle city centre.

Two vehicles collided outside Tup Tup Palace on St Nicholas Street early on Sunday morning.

Northumbria Police confirmed that no one had been injured and an investigation has been launched into the collision.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "We can confirm that there has been a damage-only road traffic in Newcastle.

"It was involving a police vehicle and a member of the public.

"No persons were injured as a result of the collision.

"An investigation is now being carried out into the circumstances of the collision."
