Police car in M8 motorway multi-vehicle crash at Kingston Bridge

A police car is among three cars involved in a rush hour crash this morning on the M8.

At around 7.50am, a police car and two other vehicles crashed at junction 19 Kingston Bridge, next to St Patrick's Church in Anderston.

Images from the scene show the badly damaged police vehicle smashed against the side wall, with the other vehicles involved out of sight.

No injuries have been reported so far and Traffic Scotland has advised that one eastbound lane has been closed as a result.

Police Scotland have confirmed that one of their vehicles was involved, and advised that recovery of all vehicles is under way.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said : “Around 7.50am on Friday, 30 December, 2022 a police vehicle was travelling to an emergency call when it was involved in a crash with another vehicle on the M8 at junction 19.

“Recovery of both vehicles is under way.

“The driver of the police vehicle has been taken by ambulance to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment for minor injuries.”
