Police car in ditch after serious crash shuts major road in Salford

A major road in Salford has been shut tonight following a collision involving a police vehicle.

The collision happened just before 11pm on the A576 Eccles Old Road, off the A6 Pendleton roundabout.

The road has been shut eastbound between Langworthy Road and Pendleton roundabout following the crash near Brindle Heath Road, with the A6 slip road also closed.

A Mini has also been damaged in the collision.

It is not known at this stage whether anyone has been injured.

The road has been closed, with road scene investigators at the scene. It is expected the road will be shut for the next few hours overnight.
