Police car ends up vertical after crashing into lamp post

Police responding to an emergency in Nottinghamshire were left upside down after their car crashed into a lamp post.

Residents on Strelley Road in Broxtowe were awoken at 2am on Sunday morning when they heard a "massive bang", reports NottinghamshireLive.

Police said the driver of the car was forced to use evasive action to avoid a collision with another vehicle.

The police car – which was displaying blue lights – then crashed into a lamp post, causing significant damage to both the vehicle and the street furniture.

Nobody was seriously injured in the incident.

The crash left debris scattered across the road and the area subsequently fenced off.

Numerous other police cars, the fire service and paramedics were called to the scene.

A police spokesperson said: "There was a minor collision between a car being driven by a member of the public and a police car as it was on blue lights responding to an emergency call at 2am.
