A police car was involved in a crash while officers were on their way to an 'suspicious' incident last night.
Police were responding to reports of two men pushing stolen goods in a trolley on Baxters Lane, in St Helens.
Travelling to the scene of the alleged crime, the police car crashed with a red Fiat 500.

The crash happened at around 9.10pm, on Tuesday, January 4, on the junction of Park Road and Recreation Street.
While emergency services dealt with the smash, the roads were closed and later reopened.
Police have confirmed no injuries were reported after the incident and an internal investigation is underway.
A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "At around 9.10pm last night (Tuesday 4 January 2022) a police car was in collision with red Fiat 500 car while on its way to an emergency in St Helens.
"The incident took place at the junction of Park Road and Recreation Street, and roads were closed for a short period while the incident was dealt with.
"No injuries were reported and an internal investigation is underway.
"The police car was on its way to a report of suspicious circumstances on Baxters Lane where two males were allegedly seen pushing a trolley of stolen goods. Officers attended the scene and nothing was found."
