A man has been arrested after leading the police on a car chase through the streets of Fife.

Police confirmed that the driver of the white van had been arrested following a "short pursuit" which started in Dunfermline and ended in Mossend Terrace, Cowdenbeath.

Officers had tried to stop the vehicle on Skye Road in Dunfermline but the driver took off and led the cops on a chase.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.20pm on Saturday, 21 August, officers attempted to stop a Ford Transit van travelling on Skye Road, Dunfermline.

"Following a short pursuit, the vehicle was stopped in the Mossend Terrace area of Cowdenbeath, and a man was arrested.

"Further enquiries into the matter remain ongoing.”
