Police called to 'unexplained' death of man in Swansea

The death of a man in Penlan, Swansea, that was investigated by police is not being treated as suspicious after initially being described as "unexplained".

Officers from South Wales Police were called to an address in Penlan Fach at 2.40pm on Tuesday, June 30, by ambulance crews who were already at the scene.

A 48-year-old man was found dead at a property and police launched an investigation into the circumstances of the man's death.

The death was initially being treated as "unexplained". However, after a post-mortem was carried out it is not being treated as suspicious.

People in the area reported seeing ambulances in Penlan Fach, and then a large police presence on the road throughout the afternoon.

Unmarked police cars were also seen in the area of Penlan Fach and the adjoining street, Penderry Road and emergency services were at the scene for several hours, according to reports.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "We were called at 2.40pm yesterday [Tuesday] by ambulance colleagues to a death at an address in Penlan Fach, Penlan.

"A 48-year-old man was found deceased at the scene. Following a post mortem the death is not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the HM Coroner."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called on Tuesday 30 June, at approximately 2.21pm to reports of a medical emergency in the Penlan area of Swansea. We sent two emergency ambulances, one BASICS doctor and a rapid response car with Clinical Team Leader."
