Police called to Simon Cowell's house as suspicious man seen loitering outside

Police rushed to Simon Cowell’s London mansion last weekend amid concerns about a man who was seen repeatedly loitering outside the property.

According to reports, officers from the Metropolitan Police visited the home of the 61-year-old star – which he shares with 43-year-old girlfriend Lauren Silverman and their seven-year-old son, Eric.

Staff at the businessman’s property reportedly grew concerned after noticing a stranger “hanging around” outside the West London home last Saturday.

Cops were called to the home with reports suggesting Simon spoke with officers on Thursday to share his concerns – although it is also reported Simon and his family were not there at the time of the sighting of the suspicious man.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “There was a man loitering around outside Simon’s house, and his re-appearance on several occasions was a concern. Based on that, Simon wanted to have a chat with the coppers.

“He had been out at the time, but there were staff in the house and he was very concerned after he was told the man had been picked up on his CCTV.”

The source continued: “This man could have been a stalker or could have been scoping out his house, as well as others in their neighbourhood, as targets for a break-in, so Simon felt it was necessary to have a conversation with the police.”

The Mirror has contacted a rep of Simon for comment.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police attended the address but there are no police actions of note to report."

The Sun on Sunday’s report states the police met with Simon for 40 minutes on Thursday as he shared his concerns with them.

It is also reported the former X Factor boss shared CCTV footage with officers – while the report also claims Simon has been left “shaken and anxious” about the incident.

Simon has been targeted by burglars in the past, with a criminal named Darren February breaking into one of his properties in 2015.

The 37-year-old criminal stole two passports, watches and jewellery worth £950,000 in the raid – which he committed while Simon was asleep in the property.

February was sentenced to eight years behind bars for the burglary crimes – with the sentence added to a then already existing eight year prison sentence after he knocked down and killed a motorcyclist.

Simon said in a victim impact statement read to Isleworth Crown Court at the time of February’s trial: “The whole incident has been very traumatic and there is a constant fear that it may be repeated and that it may be worse next time.”

He added: “This incident has caused me great concerns about the security of my family.

“On reflection I am very scared of what could have happened to my son if the burglar had gone into his room.

“I could not bear to think of the consequences and also a lot would have happened if the burglar had come into our room.”
