The crash happened on the anti-clockwise carriageway near Trafford.

The carriageway was closed between junction eight at Carrington and junction six for Sale.

Greater Manchester Police said no serious injuries were reported.

Motorists are being warned to expect delays, with traffic tailing back towards Trafford Park.

A lane of the clockwise carriageway was also closed due to the damage to the central reservation.

One lane remains closed anti-clockwise, for barrier repairs.

Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted: "Delays & lane closures on the #M60 in both directions between Urmston and Northenden.

"This is due to an incident in which a car has hit the central reservation.

"Emergency services remain on scene.

"@gmptraffic @NWmwaypolice are currently at scene, Traffic Officers are on their way to the area to assist.
