Romelu Lukaku and a number of his Inter Milan teammates could be in trouble after police say they broke up a party hosted by Belgian striker.
Lukaku has enjoyed another superb season in Italy, with his 22 Serie A goals helping fire his side to a first title since 2010.
The former Manchester United and Everton man was clearly in the mood to celebrate, and according to police hosted a shindig on Wednesday to celebrate his 28th birthday.
The event took place at a hotel, believed to be the Square Milano Duomo hotel, but it was brought to a halt by local police due to the fact it breached Covid-19 protocols.
There is currently a curfew in Italy to prohibit social gatherings between the hours of 10pm and 5am, and it would appear this curfew was ignored by Lukaku and a number of others.
A police statement released on Thursday read: "At 3am last night, in Milan, Police intervened in a hotel in the city centre, where in an events room there was the birthday party of Inter footballer Romelu Lukaku.
"Another 23 people were identified, including some other Inter players and the hotel’s director that organised the event. The director and the guests will be sanctioned for violating the Covid-19 rules."
It has not been confirmed which of Lukaku's teammates were present.
The party occurred hours after Inter had beaten Roma 3-1 - a game in which Lukaku scored in injury time.
There has been no word yet on what, if any, punishments Lukaku and co will face, but a heavy fine at the very least is to be expected.
Inter have just two games remaining this season, against Juventus and Udinese, before Lukaku's attentions will turn towards this summer's European Championships.
