Police called to reports of 'body' on M60 - it was a man having a nap on the hard shoulder

Reports of a ‘dead body’ on the M60 near Stretford turned out to be a man having a nap on the hard shoulder.

Police were called to junction 7 of the motorway at around 7am this morning.

It came after several people reported seeing a body at the side of the road.

On arrival, officers found a man who “decided to walk home, got a little tired and had a nap on the hard shoulder”.

He was handed a Traffic Offence Report and removed from the busy motorway, a spokesman for GMP Traffic said.

The force took to social media to say:“ XT18 + ME18 have just attended the M60 J7 following reports of a body on the motorway, turned out to be a Male who decided to use the M60 to walk home, got a little tired + decided to have a nap on the hard shoulder!

“TOR issued and removed from the motorway.”
