Police called to report of robbery at bank in Riddrie

Police are at the scene of a reported robbery at a bank in Riddrie.

Officers have closed off Smithycroft Road between Lethamhill Road and Riddrievale Street after they were called at around 11:15am.

Local reports have emerged that a G4S van was targeted in the incident.

The public is urged to avoid the area while enquiries are carried out.

A spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a bank on Smithycroft Road, Glasgow at around 11.15am today (Tuesday, 17 December) following a report of a robbery.

“Smithycroft Road is currently closed between its junctions with Lethamhill Road and Riddrievale Street while officers conduct inquiries at the scene. The public are asked to avoid the area, where possible."
