Police called to rave between Bristol and Bath keeping furious residents awake

Residents have been kept awake overnight because of a rave near Bristol.

Just after 5.30am this morning (July 19) Avon and Somerset Police said it was aware of an ongoing rave in Upper Swainswick and had multiple units at the scene.

The force tweeted: "We are hoping to bring this to a close as soon as possible and understand the distress this causes local residents.

"As a result our 101 lines are very busy, but be assured we are aware."

Angered residents took to social media to express their frustration, with the music being heard on the ourskirts of Bristol.

One person wrote: "Sort out the one in Upper SWAINSWICK in Bath then that's been going on for hours keeping thousands of people awake!!!

"I'm in Oldland Common, Bristol BTW!!!!"

Another replied: "It is being listened to in Kingswood it’s so loud."

Other users wrote it could be heard from Warmley and Kingswood too.

And one wondered whether there was more than one rave going on: "I’m not sure if there are more than one raves going on. I’m so angry, been awake since 5...

"Apparently police units are there. That was 2 hrs ago. Not sure it’s that’s difficult to pull the plug?!"

A resident of Twerton, a Bath suburb, said they could hear the music from their house with the windows shut, adding it kept waking them up throughout the night.

"I went out onto the street this morning and everyone on the street was wondering whether it was coming from," she said. "It was loud - I could hear the music."

The resident said the music had stopped now.
