Police called to numerous reports of missing children in Skegness

Ten calls were made to police about children going missing in Skegness in the space of two hours as people flocked to the coast. Lincolnshire Police's control room received the calls in relation to children going missing on the beaches, in the sea or in arcades on Saturday, August 13.

Firefighters were also once again tackling fires in the countryside - one was caused by a bonfire left unattended, reports Lincolnshire Live. The police control room tweeted at 7pm on Saturday, August 13: "In the past two hours we have received approximately 10 different calls regarding missing children in the Skegness area on either the arcades, beaches or in the water. This has prompted the deployment of many officers, a drone unit, coastguard helicopter and crews."

RNLI lifeguard units at Skegness, Sutton on Sea and Mablethorpe are stocked up with Sandi Starfish wristbands for children. RNLI Skegness posted on Facebook: "Write a contact phone number on the inside before putting it on a child’s wrist, then tell them if they get lost to come and see us so we can ring you to reunite you both! They’re completely free and you can pick them up from us in Skegness, Sutton On Sea or Mablethorpe."
