Police called to 'large gathering' in Rochdale - the group had vanished by the time officers arrived

A school in Rochdale was locked down after a large group of youths gathered nearby.

Parents and carers of children at Kingsway Park High School on Turf Hill Road were sent a text message on Monday afternoon (June 14) informing them that students were being held back.

The text said that students would be 'late out of school' due to the large gathering.

The text read: "A group of teenage males gathered at the front of school before the end of the day.

“We have made the decision to hold students in school and lock the gates until we work with police and decide it is safe for everyone to leave."
