Police called to house party in Bury as people continue to ignore government restrictions

Police had to break up a party at a house in Bury, due to the people involved breaking social distancing guidelines.

Officers attended at Cottam Street, in Elton, at around 9.30pm yesterday.

According to witnesses, around 10 people were in the house at one point.

Residents living on the street also claimed that police came three times in total.

A public post shared on Facebook described the woman who lives in the house and those at the party as "selfish".

The post read: "The police were called, two left and as soon as the police left she let them back in.

"The police came three times which resulted in seven cars and vans blocking the street and at least 15 officers taken off the street."

However, a statement from Greater Manchester Police suggests that they only have one record of attending at the house.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police. said: "At around 9.30pm on Saturday 4 April 2020, police were called to reports of non-compliance with Government restrictions at a property on Cottam Street, Bury.

"Officers attended and a group of people was dispersed."
