Emergency services descended on a Southport park on Sunday amid reports that body parts had been found.
Police closed off a section of Botanic Gardens throughout the evening after receiving the call from a concerned member of the public.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was also sent to deal with the possibility of an underwater search being carried out in the park’s lake.
The presence of police cars and a fire engine at the park had sparked some concern from members of the public, with rumours surfacing online about what had triggered the response.
Project set up to improve Southport is now five years old but has it actually achieved anything?
But rather than a gruesome discovery, a police search then found that the item in question was in fact part of a plastic skeleton.

A police spokesman said: “We got a call around 6pm when it was reported that possible human remains had been found in Botanic Gardens.
“We’ve gone and searched the area and it’s been confirmed as a plastic skeleton.”
A section of the park was closed for several hours by police, while fire officers spent around half an hour at the scene.
