Police had to be called in after hundreds of hungry punters turned up to receive a free burger as part of promotion in Bristol this afternoon.
Officers were seen handing out the free burgers after staff became overwhelmed with the demand.
Hundreds of hungry punters flocked to College Green nearly a full 40 minutes before the arrival of the burgers.
When the 300 burgers did arrive the crowd was pushing and shoving so excitably, people were seen toppling over, reports Bristol Live .
"Calm down it’s just a burger," One police officer was overheard shouting.

Popular Bristol chain Oowee's were being handed out for free today by Deliveroo's riders to celebrate the app's fourth birthday.
But it appears everyone had the same idea, as a crowd of hundreds turned up to College Green in hopes of getting their hands on a Big Cheese burger or vegan Sneaky Clucker burgers.
One person in the crowd said: “People were being toppled over.

“Everyone was pushing forwards so much the Deliveroo lady just put the bag on the floor next to her while everyone grabbed at them."
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "Police were alerted to a large group of people on College Green by council CCTV staff just after 1pm on Wednesday (April 17).
"Officers attended and found people waiting for free food as part of a promotion. There were no offences and the officers resumed their patrols."
Charlie Watson, one of the owners of Oowee, said he was not anticipating the huge numbers of people who turned up to the event.

"We thought there would be a couple of hundred people but it was more like thousands," he said.
"I arrived towards the end but there was still a good amount of people there.
"It was quite civilised when I was there. The police were there helping.
"I think everyone had fun."

The 28-year-old added they would consider a similar event in the future.
"I would be up for doing it again but I would do it differently, maybe have a chef there or an outside kitchen," he said.
