Police called to five vehicle crash on M4

Police were called to a crash on the M4 involving five vehicles earlier today (February 26).

The collision happened between junctions 34 (Miskin) and J33 (Cardiff West) shortly after 7.30am.

One lane of the motorway was closed and there were long delays.

The South Wales Police roads policing unit shared a picture of the damage to one of the vehicles.

The front of the white Renault had been smashed into the car, with the bonnet pushed back, revealing the engine.

The force tweeted at 7.42am: "Incident 105, officers currently at the scene of a 5 vehicle RTC M4 jct 34 - 33, expect delays."

The cars were moved onto the hard shoulder at around 9am, but delays continued.

Traffic had returned to normal by around 9.30am.

Wales Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
