Police called to fight at The Manchester College in Harpurhey

Police were called to a fight between students at a college in Harpurhey.

Six police vehicles swooped on The Manchester College's campus on Rochdale Road at around 10.40am today.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed fighting had broken out between some students.

No one was injured and there were no arrests made.

A GMP spokesman said: "We were called at 10.40am to the Manchester College to reports of a disturbance.

"Officers attended and the situation has been difused.

"It was a fight between students. There were no weapons and no injuries.

"The matter is being dealt with internally by the college."

A spokesman for The Manchester College confirmed there had been a fight between two students this morning.

Lisa O’Loughlin, Principal at The Manchester College, said:  “The Manchester College dealt rapidly with an isolated incident at our Harpurhey campus this morning, in accordance with established safeguarding policies and procedures.

"Our students and staff are our top priority and we take all issues around safeguarding extremely seriously.”
