Police called to Cathcart after early morning crash

Police were called to the scene of an early morning crash in Cathcart which led to a car having to be recovered after striking a traffic light.

Police received a call shortly before 7am (Tuesday), with an Audi believed to have struck the light on the junction of Holmlea Road and Old Castle Road in Glasgow's south side.

Pictures taken at the scene show the lamppost coming within inches of striking the window of Koo-ee Cafe, on Old Castle Road.

No-one was injured as a result of the collision.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "There was a call about 6.50am this morning, to the junction of Holmlea Road and Old Castle Road.

"It looks to be one car that was involved, an Audi that struck the lamppost there.

"No other cars involved. No injuries.

"The car had to be recovered."
