Police called to Boris Johnson's home after reports of 'loud altercation'

Police were called to Boris Johnson's home after an apparent early morning row, reports have claimed.

The Mirror reported that a neighbour of Tory leadership candidate phoned 999 after hearing an argument involving a woman.

Johnson resides at the London flat with partner Carrie Symonds - a former Conservative spin doctor.

The pair began a relationship last year, after the the Tory MP's second marriage hit the rocks.

Concerned neighbours told The Guardian they had called at the flat to see what the commotion was, but dialled 999 when they got no answer.

The Guardian newspaper also said it has an audio recording of a disturbance - in which loud "banging" noises were said to be heard.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed it had attended an address in south London this morning.

A spokesman said: "At 00:24hrs on Friday, 21 June police responded to a call from a local resident in the SE5 area of Camberwell.
"The caller was concerned for the welfare of a female neighbour.

"Police attended and spoke to all occupants of the address, who were all safe and well. There were no offences or concerns apparent to the officers and there was no cause for police action."

Former London Mayor Johnson is currently in the running to become the next Prime Minister, facing off against foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt.
