Police called by annoyed residents after campervan allegedly left near busy junction for a month

Police were called by annoyed residents to reports of a campervan parked near a busy Mapperley junction which locals feared could have caused an accident.

Steve Sinclair, 67, of Daisy Road, in Mapperley, said it was parked inconsiderately in Porchester Road near to its junction with Kenrick Road.

A picture of the white campervan shows it was left near a bus stop, in front of the Punch Bowl pub.

Mr Sinclair claimed it had been there for a month "causing considerable difficulties" and leading to a "large number of complaints".

The former journalist told Nottinghamshire Live: "If you were coming out of Kenrick Road to turn into the main road you can't see the traffic - it blocks all of the view.

"Not only that, it was parked on the pavement, so it was making it difficult for people to get past.

"But it was also parked on the cycle lane. Anyone coming down had to swerve into the middle of the road.

"You couldn't go down the cycle lane because of the vehicle."

He added it restricted the view of people standing at the bus stop.

He said it could have caused an accident, and added: "It's not only that it's blocking vision for drivers, motorists, cyclists, pedestrians - and obviously obstructing the bus services. It's very irresponsible."

Nottinghamshire Police were called on Wednesday, March 27, to a report of a campervan parked on Porchester Road, Mapperley, in a manner which had been causing local residents "annoyance".

Three arrested after man, 32, punched and kicked in the head

Two PCSOs attended and issued an Inconsiderate Parking notice, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed.

Such a notice typically says: "Future inappropriate parking may lead to a penalty charge or prosecution."

Police were unable to locate the owner of the vehicle.

Mr Sinclair said the campervan had been moved on Thursday, March 28.

It is understood the road linings in the exact location where the campervan was parked were not enforceable by local councils.
