Police called as 'parents' brawl outside school in front of kids

Police arrived at the entrance of a school after a conflict 'between parents ' broke out outside the gates.

Officers were called to the school on October 5 after claims of a disturbance were reported at approximately 2:45pm.

Merseyside Police have confirmed an argument broke out between a group of people outside The Prescot School on Park Lane, Merseyside, but no injuries were confirmed, reports Liverpool Echo.

A spokesperson for the school said: “We are aware of an incident outside of our school yesterday, however we can say it did not involve any of our students."

One person reported seeing parents 'shouting, threatening, swearing and cars speeding off' from the scene of the incident, while others reported seeing "six to seven" police cars at the scene.

The school has not confirmed the suggestion the incident involved parents.

Following the incident many parents posted their concerns on Facebook with one parent calling the scene "unsettling".

The parent posted: “Picking my daughter up from school it was definitely unsettling seeing all the police vehicles screaming around.

“Since they’ve gone back it’s been an absolute nightmare with all children finishing at the same time."

Another parents said her child had been "traumatised" by the incident.

She wrote: “Feral behaviour! My child is only in year 7 and is traumatised by it all.

“The school itself is a brilliant school. I genuinely feel sorry for the teachers but today was a step too far.”

Following the incident Merseyside Police said it will be deploying extra high visibility patrols to the area to provide reassurance.

Inspector Peter Rexwinkel said: “We simply will not tolerate such violence, especially outside a school when children are leaving to go home, and we are working to prevent such behaviour in our community.

“If you were on Park Lane and witnessed the incident, or know anyone who might be involved then please let us know as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact @MerPolCC, on Twitter, Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook or ring 101 quoting reference 21000692693.

Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or via their website.
