Police called as man on Travelodge roof sparks emergency response

Emergency services were sent to a Liverpool city centre Travelodge after reports there was a man on the roof.

Police confirmed they were at the Strand, in Liverpool city centre on Friday, July 23 after a man was spotted on the roof of the hotel.

The man, who said he was a photographer trying to get a good view, was escorted from the scene by police.

Following the incident officers gave him safety advice. A witness said two fire engines were also at the scene.

A Merseyside police spokesperson told the ECHO : "We can confirm that officers were at the Strand, Liverpool City Centre following an incident earlier today, Friday 23 July.

"At 1.55pm, we received reports of a man on the roof of the Travelodge.

"He came down a short time later, stated he was a photographer, and was given advice for his safety."
