Police called again to Stockport estate to more reports of egg-pelting yobs

A gang of egg-hurling yobs are continuing to cause trouble on a Stockport estate.

On Saturday night, police had to be called again to the Hursthead estate in Cheadle Hulme after the 20-strong group began throwing box after box of eggs at a house and cars.

Officers arrived at the scene around 10 minutes later, but the teenagers had already run off.

Although no damage was reported, the incident has been logged as a crime and enquiries are ongoing.

According to police, there have been ongoing issues with youths in the area for several weeks - including reports of them throwing eggs at passing cars.

Rob Hawksley, neighbourhood Inspector for Cheadle, Gatley and Bramhall, says some members of the group have been identified and have had visits at home from officers.

He said: "We have had on-going issues with a large group of youths in this area for several weeks now, with reports of them throwing eggs at passing cars.

"Neighbourhood officers have been able to identify some of the youths.

"They have all been visited at home and given warnings regarding their behaviour in front of their parents.

"We have also referred the youths to a Youth Disorder Panel to ensure other partner agencies are aware of them and are able to offer interventions to try and curb their behaviour."

Anyone with information relating to the ongoing anti-social behaviour on the Hursthead estate is asked to contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
