Police called after reports of a baby on Redheugh Bridge with no parents present

Police officers were called to Redheugh Bridge after they received a report that a baby was on the bridge without parents present.

Officers received a report of concern for a baby, with no parents or guardians believed to be present on Monday afternoon after 6.30pm. Officers rushed to the scene to investigate the report.

Once police arrived, the baby was found 'safe and well' it has been confirmed.

Northumbria Police have since confirmed that the baby's parents have been found and spoken to. Enquiries into the incident are currently ongoing.

A Force spokesperson said: “Shortly after 6.30pm yesterday (Monday) police received a report of concern for a baby, with no parents or guardians believed to be present.

“Officers attended and the baby was found safe and well.

“The baby’s parents have been spoken to and enquiries are ongoing.”
