Police called after KFC customers refused to leave Nottingham restaurant

Police were called to a KFC restaurant in the city centre after customers refused to leave.

Customers wanted to eat their lunch inside the building rather than take it away, which is against the coronavirus guidelines.

Staff called police to the restaurant in Long Row at 12noon on Wednesday, February 3.

One police car arrived at the scene, with two officers, who spoke to both the manager and staff.

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Paul Gummer, who manages the city centre, said: "Nottinghamshire Police was called at around 12pm today to KFC in Long Row after a report from staff that customers had demanded to eat in store.

"Staff correctly pointed out that the customers were unable to do so under the current coronavirus restrictions.

"The customers were reported to have initially refused staff requests to leave but when police arrived the situation had been resolved and no offences had been committed."
