Police called after bus gets stuck trying to enter Ayr petrol station

Police are working to free a bus after it became trapped trying to enter a petrol station this lunchtime.

The coach was impaled as it attempted to mount the pavement and enter the Shall garage on Prestwick Road, Ayr.

One eyewitness said: "We saw the bus sticking out into the middle of the road and assumed it was waiting to go in for petrol.

"But the closer we got, we could see the rear of the coach had got stuck on the ramp entering the station.

"The police are trying to assist the driver in putting blocks under the back wheels to push it off."

The incident has caused traffic problems on the busy stretch, with drivers advised to avoid the area if possible.
