Police called after body of man found near River Trent in Notts village

Police were called to a Nottinghamshire village following reports of the sudden death of a man.

A body was found near the River Trent yesterday (Sunday 31 January), Nottinghamshire Police have confirmed.

East Midlands Ambulance Service called officers to the scene in Stoke Lane, Stoke Bardolph, at 12.10pm.

The man has not yet been formally identified but his death is not believed to be suspicious. Nottinghamshire Police said a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Detective Sergeant Rick Ellis, of Nottinghamshire police, said: "Our thoughts are with this man's family and friends at this sad time."
