Police call off search for missing Eyre Peninsula man

The search for a 57-year-old man who went missing in waters off South Australia's Eyre Peninsula after his boat capsized has been called off, despite police finding no trace of his body.

The aluminium boat capsized with two men and two boys on board on Friday evening in waters off Hall Bay, between Coffin Bay and Elliston on the west coast.

One of the men and two of the boys managed to swim back to shore.

Police conducted an extensive air and ground search over the weekend with the assistance of SES, CFS, police air crews and STAR Group officers.

Police divers also undertook several underwater searches along with sea level searches and recovered a small outboard motor, which is still to be identified as coming from the boat.

Two seats were recovered on the fourth day of the search, but are also yet to be identified as coming from the boat.

Police said they had no plans to conduct further searches unless new information is received.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
