Police have uncovered a cannabis grow house in Belconnen with up to 40 kilograms of the drug inside, after a tip-off from members of the public.

The home in Kaleen was searched by officers on Saturday morning following the tip-off with officers discovering more than 200 cannabis plants growing inside.

The cannabis plants were found in the garage and two rooms of the house.

An ACT police spokesman said between 35 and 40 kilograms of cannabis were found in the home, all at various stages of growth.

A significant amount of equipment was also seized during Saturday's search.

No charges have been laid at this stage, but the police spokesman said charges are expected to be handed out at a later date.

Investigations are continuing.
