Police break up illegal rave near small market town

Police disrupted an illegal rave being held near a small market town in west Wales.

Officers broke up the "small-scale" event in the Tregaron area of Ceredigion in the early evening of Saturday.

A Dyfed-Powys police spokesman said on Saturday: "We believe more people were expected to attend and could still be planning to visit the area."

Tregaron is an ancient market town with a population of just over 1,200.

Police urged people to be on the look-out for the signs that a rave might be planned.

These include unusually high numbers of vehicles, a large amount of camper vans, trespassers scoping out side and people approaching landowners to hire land.

It comes months after a huge illegal rave was disrupted at a location near Tregaron on New Year's Eve.
