Police have slammed an east London family for holding an 18th Birthday celebration during the coronavirus lockdown.
Newham MPS shared a photo of a home in East Ham covered in balloons and party decorations.
The force said they had been called to the house on Central Park road, where they found some 25 guests inside.
They tweeted: “After a day of stop and search and foot chases, Newham’s NTT have been called to clear a house party in Central Park Road.
“This family thought law relating to social distancing shouldn’t apply to 18th birthday parties. 25 guests moved on.”
The Government’s social distancing rules explicitly instruct the public not to meet others, “even friends or family.”
Public Health England guidance states: “Avoid gatherings with friends and family. Keep in touch using remote technology such as phone, internet, and social media.
It adds: “Infections spread easily in closed spaces where people gather together.”
The Standard has contacted Newham MPS for comment.
