A police road block was put in place on a pitch black road after a crash between a bike and a car.
Emergency services were called to Mount Road, in Bebington, at around 5.30pm on Monday evening.
Witnesses reported that a cyclist was knocked from their bike and suffered injuries.
Road closures were put in place a short time later but the road block remained over three hours later.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed that the cyclist only suffered minor injuries but enquiries were ongoing.
The force said: "Officers were called to Mount Road in Bebington at 5.30pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a cyclist.
"The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries.
"Only slight injuries were reported in relation to the cyclist but road closures were put in place while officers assessed the scene.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the area and we thank the public for their patience and cooperation."
