Police 'block exit of woods' after reports of man with gun - helicopter circling

Reports of a man carrying a shotgun saw a police helicopter circle above north Bristol today as police officers with blocked off woodland.

The incident happened in Sea Mills this afternoon (Saturday, June 13).

One witness told Bristol Live they saw the police helicopter circling at around 5.30pm.

They said: "I got back from work to see it hovering and then loads of police and police dogs stood by the exits of the woods."

The helicopter stopped circling the area at around 6pm

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed they were called to reports of a man with a shotgun.

They said: "It was a report of a man in possession of what appeared to be a shotgun - but we did a search of the area and no-one could be found."
