Police block Albion Street in Leeds after car seen 'smoking off' in multi-storey car park

Police and the fire service have been in attendance in Leeds city centre this afternoon, after a car was seen smoking in a carpark.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have confirmed that they were called to Butts Court after a car was seen "smoking off" in a multi-storey car park.

Fire crews from Leeds and Killingbeck attended to deal with the car, as well as the aerial appliance from Bradford Fire Station.

West Yorkshire Police are also in attendance and access to nearby Albion Street has been blocked for a few hours.

A police officer was also seen in the area diverting traffic in the city centre.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Fire crews have attended Butts Court in Leeds this afternoon where there was a car smoking off in a multi-storey carpark. There was no visible flame.

"Fire crews from Leeds dealt with this incident and two engines attended as well as one from Killingbeck.

"The aerial appliance from Bradford Fire Station also attended."

Buses in the area have been delayed as a result of this and it is understood that a number of emergency vehicles are still at the scene.
