Police blast driver's excuse for speed of 127mph

A driver who was allegedly caught doing 127mph by police on Sunday morning will be reported for prosecution.

A 22-year man was stopped on the new A6 dual carriageway at Randalstown around 11.10am.

Police said the excuse offered for his speed was that "they were late for Vertigo".

A PSNI spokesperson said: "RPU officers detected this speed near Randalstown this morning.

"The driver's excuse was they were late for Vertigo. Should have left earlier.

"The 22-year-old male driver was detected on the new A6 dual carriageway at 11.10am this morning. He is being reported for prosecution."
