The group behind the booing at this year’s ANZAC Day ceremonies has been identified, with Uncle Ray Minniecon sharing that the incident was sad but not surprising.
Per news.com.au, footage depicting a group being “removed” from Perth’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service has emerged, with a police officer stating that it was due to their links to March for Australia — a group known for organising anti-immigration rallies across Australia.
In the video, which has been shared with ex-March for Australia organiser Bec Freedom, the officer said, “Due to your association with the March for Australia Group and their actions in the eastern states, you’re being removed from the ceremony due to belief that you will interrupt it.”
“Same reason that your group interrupted the three in Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. Therefore, all five of you are detained, you will each be receiving a move-on notice to leave Kings Park this morning,” the officer continued.
“Your association to that group has unfortunately ruined your opportunity to remain at the ceremony today.”

The footage comes shortly after politicians condemned the booing that interrupted a series of ANZAC Day services across the country.
At Sydney’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service in Martin Place, booing interrupted Uncle Ray’s Acknowledgement of Country, while in Melbourne, hecklers interrupted the Welcome to Country at the Shrine of Remembrance.
Speaking to ABC News, Uncle Ray said he was sad but not surprised by the act, noting that he recognised racism towards First Nations people surged during the 2023 Voice to Parliament referendum.
“[It] seems like there’s some more of a legitimacy to attack us Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people more, which is sad,” he told the publication.
“It does ask that deeper question, you know, ‘Why do they hate us? What’s the reason?.'”
In 2025, hecklers interrupted Melbourne’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service, with a group of about six to 10 men booing and yelling phrases such as, “It’s our country, we don’t need to be welcomed to our country” during the Welcome to Country.
Ahead of this year’s ANZAC Day, Fight For Australia shared a video of Uncle Mark Brown being booed during last year’s Melbourne Welcome to Country with text that reads, “How loud will you be this year?”.

Indigenous leaders and politicians condemn ANZAC Day hecklers
Per The Guardian, Uncle Jack Pearson, a Yimithirr man and a captain in the Australian army, said “racism in any shape or form is a cancer to any society” following this year’s incidents.
“[There’s] nothing wrong with free speech and protest,” Pearson said.
“But it’s got to be respectful, particularly on days like this… a very special day for all Australians.”
New South Wales Premier Chris Minns also said that the incident at Sydney’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service had left him “disappointed”.
“Anzac Day should always be treated with the respect, solemnity and reverence it deserves,” he said, per 9News.
“Whilst I’ve never before heard booing like that at a dawn service, I’ve also never heard a crowd spontaneously applaud as they did for Uncle Ray Minniecon. That act made it clear what the views of the vast majority attending were. This is a day to honour sacrifice.”

Victoria Premier Jacinta Allan also called out hecklers during Melbourne’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service, stating that “Politicising this sacred day is bastardry”.
“To break the stillness of Dawn Service is not just ugly behaviour towards our Aboriginal servicemen and women who defended this country, it disrespects everyone who fought and died for our freedoms,” Allan said.
“I condemn it and so should every leader.”
Per the publication, a man was arrested and charged with an alleged act of nuisance by NSW Police. He has since been granted conditional bail and is set to appear at Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday, June 3.
